Through layers of translucent paint, I develop a dreamy world of soft blues, purples and pinks, inviting the viewer to step inside my mind. My work focuses on queerness and girlhood, explored through the lens of comfort. I believe that nostalgia is a safety blanket for queerness, especially for queer women; The complexities of girlhood and self acceptance can be so easily masked with childlike wonder, bright colors, and pop culture references that feel like youth, creating a whole new identity that I and many other queer women relate to.

A motif throughout my practice is the character “Birdbunny”; When I was younger, a friend told me that if she and I were animals, she would be a bird and I would be a bunny, and she would eat me. Birdbunny is the amalgamation of a girl, a bird, and a bunny, representing personal growth and understanding the perspectives of those who have hurt us in the past. All of these themes manifest into the glowy landscape in which Birdbunny resides, telling a universal story of adolescence and relationships.
